Golden Harvest Fanling by ARTTA Concept Studio, Hong Kong

Golden Harvest Fanling is a boutique cinema that is situated in a quiet corner of Fanling with a bold and distinctive statement. The bold characteristics and materials used on the yellow-painted façade, such as back lighting and bare light-bulbs, create its unique golden glow. The design aesthetic for the signage continues inside directing guests in the right direction. O ne of the approaches taken was to create multiple layers using colours and materials. With a core black background, the bold signages and graphics bearing lighter tones were able to stand out sharply. A combination of rough concrete, tiles, net wires, and patterned glass help create an industrial-look while providing the illusion of depth and space.

Unlike most cinemas, which are located within shopping malls, Golden Harvest Fanling occupies a standalone building, which was previously a retail shop. The renovation is to encourage more visitors and bring the community closer together. At 390 square metres, the boutique cinema possesses two screening halls, sitting up to 218 people. We have exaggerated the look of this cinema by giving it a rebirth, from something that started off dull and boring to a whole new, lively and exciting cinema. This is a one and only design with an individual character that catches your attention from the moment you step inside.
