Mirante Paineiras Restaurant by Kube Arquitetura

Paineiras’ Visitors Center (Centro de Visitantes Paineiras) is located on the grounds of the old Hotel das Paineiras, a historic place in the way up to Corcovado, which is very popular to tourists that want to see Christ the Redeemer.

Designed by Kube Arquitetura

The idea behind the projects for Paineiras-Corcovado was not only to integrate the center with the visitors, but also to unite it to the nature around it and reveal the forest for those visiting Christ the Redeemer, offering infrastructure for the 10 thousand daily visitors that await their turn to see the statue.

In order to accomplish that, Kube Arquitetura was hired to design all commercial operations of the Center that opened right before the Rio 2016 Olympic Games last year.

Even though the building was not designated as a historic site, Kube Arquitetura opted to keeping the original materials as a valorization of the antique construction. The floors and tiles were preserved: symbols of the town’s history told through the architecture.

To integrate the atmosphere, Kube designed copper lamps, a wooden counter, black square-lined doors and two wooden trees that bring a sophisticated and contemporary feeling to the original elements of the space.

A deck with a 240sqm lounge was created as an extension of the restaurant’s internal saloon. It has a dining area and it’s also a place where visitors can relax and appreciate the stunning view of Rio de Janeiro.
