HKDA Global Design Awards 2016 4100°K Exhibition, Hong Kong - PMQ

Without light, there is no colour.

“4100°K”, the theme of the Hong Kong Designers Association Global Design Awards (HKDA GDA) 2016 Exhibition, derives from its annual publication titled “6500°K”. 6500°K refers to the temperature of the sun surface, which corresponds to the colour of white in the light spectrum.

Working constantly between sunrise and moonrise from broad daylight till the dark night falls, the exhibition is the fruit of the designers’ hard work and perseverance for perfection. 4100°K will feature over 200 award-winning entries of GDA 2016, spanning 4 major categories of Digital, Graphics, Products, Spatial & Environmental Design from 20 countries.

Ripples, Taking inspiration from the water ripples, this lamp does not only capture the beauty and peacefulness of the natural phenomenon when a droplet is dropped into the water, but it is also shaped to bring out the spirit of the ripple effect, when one thing leads to another and a long term influence is created out of a very small event. The idea is materialized when a person gives a helping hand to someone in need, the act will motivate the beneficiary to help others and create a ripple effect to spread the good deeds.
