BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) has designed a cluster of buildings in Copenhagen that serves as the new home for Noma restaurant. Situated between two lakes and within the community of Christiania, the new Noma restaurant is built on the site of a protected ex-military warehouse once used to store mines for the Royal Danish Navy.
The project comprises 7 small buildings with 11 connected spaces that are tailored to their specific needs and built of the finest materials best suited for their functions. The connected spaces are densely clustered around the service kitchen, putting the chefs at the center of it all. With this central position, the kitchen crew can have a perfect overview of every corner of the restaurant.
