Shenzhen Marriot Hotel Nanshan is strategically located at the business center of Nanshan district. By integrating local culture into the hotel interior designs, the designers not only create a wonderful lodging experience for our guests, but also leave them with a deep impression of local culture and our business hotel. Leaning against the mountain and facing the sea, the entire Nanshan District is historically known as a land filled with abundant plain and ocean resources, nurturing fishing village culture for countless years. With both hands, local aborigines weave not only their fishing nets, fishing gears, clothes, hats, and shoes, but also their happy lives. Named after Nanshan Mountain, Shenzhen Marriot Hotel Nanshan leans against a mountain range covered by lychee flowers and lychee fruits, which are indeed a real blessing from heaven. Fishing villages, aboriginal weaving crafts, fishing nets, fishing gears, rolling hills and beautiful lychee flowers have all become the inspiration source of the hotel designs.

1F Reception Hall
As our guests first step into Shenzhen Marriott Hotel Nanshan, they are met with a reception hall that is designed by integrating natural elements into the modern setting through a series of unique composite elements. While wooden grains are applied to outline the transition between light and shade, coarse natural logs and delicate linear metals are combined to generate a modern aesthetic taste. Through a joint combination of stone materials and metal plates, elements such as large screens, lamps, plants, and mosses are arranged to bring out the interaction between “light” and “shade” of the entire atmospheric space. Under the design principle of creating a leisure lifestyle for our honored guests, an atmospheric space that merges elegant eastern style with modern style is created
Artwork “Distance” (1F Hotel Lobby)
The artwork “Distance (pinyin: Li)” is named after the ancient Chinese word for “Lychee (pinyin: Lizhi)”. Another deeper meaning for the artwork is that with the passage of time, people’s ages would normally grow without their awareness. Being selected as the artwork’s raw material, the tough log was sculpted and piled into a complete artwork, with its wooden brims carved into a shape that resembles the twisting coastline and the surging waves. The entire artwork is sculpted into the shape of a walnut and is displayed before everyone’s eyes.
Artwork “Sail” Series 1 (1F Elevator Lobby)
Being selected as the artwork’s raw material, the tough log was sculpted into a shape of the half-moon to form the complete artwork, resembling a fishing boat that was about to sail toward the open ocean. The artwork’s surface was carved into soft and paralleling lines, resembling layers of surging waves that push the fishing boat towards a bright future.
Artwork “Nanshan” Series 1 (3F Elevator Lobby)
Being selected as the artwork’s raw material, the platinum is carved and sculpted into an artwork that resembles a mountain on the outside, with multiple layers on the inside. Looking at a distance, the artwork resembles a mountain. Getting closer, the artwork transforms into a stream flowing amidst the mountain. With natural material embedded, some “dropped leaves” were added to the “flowing stream”.
3F & 4F Banquet Hall & Conference Room
Starting out from the design principle of creating a peaceful resort amidst the crowded city, the hotel was tactfully designed so that our guests could relax themselves in a high-quality space after stepping into our hotel from the crowded city. Since free-flowing spatial pattern is applied to arrange the entire space, our guests would feel as if they are stepping into a beautiful garden while roaming in our hotel. With vertical wooden screens resembling the images of “trees” and banquet hall chandeliers resembling the images of “blooming flowers”, a peaceful natural theme can be concretely presented through an abstract approach. In addition, mobile wall partitions can be flexibly applied to some parts of the conference rooms and banquet halls, so that the entire space can be reconstructed to meet various functional needs such as receptionist activities and different kinds of meetings.
Artwork “Water Drop” (3F Elevator Lobby)
Being selected as the artwork’s raw material, the wood is cut into different layers before piled up to form an artwork that resembles a water drop. With a modern sculpting technic, natural elements are exhibited.
Artwork “Sail” Series II (4F Elevator Lobby)
Being selected as the artwork’s raw material, the tough log was sculpted into a shape of the half-moon to form the complete artwork, implying a fishing boat that was about to sail toward the open ocean. The artwork’s surface was carved into soft and paralleling lines, resembling layers of tidal waves that push the fishing boat towards a bright future.
Artwork “Nanshan” Series II
Steel wires were applied to hang acrylics of various specifications at different heights, forming a shape that resembles Nanshan Mountain. This artwork is designed to correspond with the “Nanshan” Series 1 located at the elevator lobby of 3rd floor.
43F Lobby Lounge
Patterns on the carpets, aesthetic linen clothes, screens, and fireplaces of the hotel embody the image of “crisscross weaving crafts”, “nets”, “mountains”, and “lychee flowers”; random arrangements of lobby reception counter and background screen bring out the image of “fishing boats” and “sail boats” on the sea; patterns on the background screens and guestroom headboards reveal the image of lychee flowers; while elevator interior designs, lounge door patterns, and mountain images on the suspended metal mesh screen of 43F lobby lounge present the symbol of “Nanshan”. All these have reflected the design team’s dedication in creating a peaceful resort amidst the crowded city for our honored guests. We hope that our honored guests can lodge in a place that resembles their own private back-gardens so as to face the intensive business trip with a peaceful heart, as was depicted in the “Poem for Drinking” written by Tao Yuanming of the Six Dynasties Period, “Gathering chrysanthemums by the eastern fence, I gaze leisurely at the southern mountains.”
Artwork “Ripple” (43F Elevator Lobby)
Being selected as the artwork’s raw material, the tough log was sculpted into a shape of the half-moon to form the complete artwork. The artwork’s surface was carved into soft and paralleling lines, resembling layers of surging waves that push toward a bright future.
Artwork “Running Horse” (43F Lobby Lounge Elevator)
Horse is a symbol for “auspiciousness” in the Chinese society. After reeling off great amount of silks from the wooden chunk, the wooden chunk was cut into several layers to form the final artwork, with the horse showing great momentum in running. With bold and wild carving approach, each cut reveals a sense of energetic and prosperous craftmanship.
Artwork “Build” (43F Fireplace at Lobby Lounge)
“Mortise and Tenon” is a common structure applied in the ancient Chinese wooden architecture. The artwork sufficiently applies traditional “Mortise and Tenon” technic to build a 300CM sphere with several 3 by 3 grids. On one hand, ancient Chinese culture and wisdom are sufficiently revealed; on the other hand, by building traditional structure in a modern architectural space, a visual center is created.

In addition, oak wood grains are also applied, so that our guests can engage themselves in a natural setting while enjoying their meals at the restaurant. Decorations are applied to embellish the restaurant, while distinctive wall partition and illumination system are applied to create a comfortable atmosphere for the entire space.
