Red Dog Saloon by DesignLSM, Nottingham

Following on from our successful interior design and branding projects for Red Dog Saloon and it’s sister offering Red Dog American Sandwiches, DesignLSM were delighted to be asked to recreate a fourth restaurant concept for the brand.

Designed by DesignLSM

The new restaurant forms part of Red Dog’s current expansion plans outside of London along with the recent opening of their Southampton site in the Westquay Watermark Development.

Located in Nottingham’s city centre in a Grade II listed building, the restaurant is housed beneath a stunning Victorian facade, in an arresting double height space, which combines a lobby area, main restaurant and bar.

On entry to the restaurant, diners arrive into a warm and atmospheric lobby decorated with dark woods, curious taxidermy and inquisitive pieces of Americana, which are displayed within a traditional shop counter. The main restaurant area is adorned with aged leather banquettes, geometric flooring and a striking ceiling feature constructed out of decorative tin tiles.

Our designers retained some existing features from other Red Dog sites including reclaimed pine panels and wall displays of early 19th American century portraits paying homage to the brand’s signature design details.

A prominent feature in the space is the grand, American-style horse timber bar, which we enhanced with a stained black high gloss finish. Wrapped around the bar is an array of monochrome hexagon glass mosaic tiles accompanied by classic saloon style stools injecting a Mid-western feel into the space.

The overall design scheme evokes Red Dog’s staple theme of authentic Southern American dining creating a refined and welcoming environment for city diners.
