Ballers Sports Cafe by Andreas Petropoulos Architecture.Interior - Greece

"Ballers sports cafe " is located in the heart of the commercial centre of the city of Kalamata, near the central square and its purpose is to fulfil the wishes of sports fans and coffee lovers.

The basic design principles for creating space resulted from the optimal viewing points towards the screens. In that way a space was created that is composed by three different seating-layouts, providing a variety of options for entertainment and watching of sporting events. The bar and wc are placed in the back, leaving a free open space for the seating facilities developed in two different levels in order to serve functionality and entertainment. The Basic intention of interior design was to create a space, free from "sports fans" stereotypes, a space open for all kind of sports enthusiasts. The space-identity is highlighted with elements such as Wardrobe Lockers which refer to locker rooms, and also with wall decorations composed of quotes and figure sketches of major athletes, illustrated with the stencil technique. Furthermore, a wooden retro table football, a game with timeless value, boosts the sports-fan mood.

The scenery is complemented by the choice of materials, the color palette and lighting. Metal constructions, metal sheets, OSB panels, plywoos sheets, raw surfaces, colours in tones of brown, blue-gray and light gray, industrial lamps with exposed wiring and spots, create a felling of a warm and accommodating space. All the above elements support the street urban character of the project, and allow a low cost realisation.
