Electron Chair by Lock is a new concept in flat-pack furniture. The chair combines art design, ergonomics, innovative engineering and puzzle structure. Electron chair is a flat-pack concept. Each part of the chair is made from one sheet 18mm beech plywood, cut precisely by a CNC router. All the elements are assembled on the puzzle principle without the use of nails, screws, etc.
Design: The Electron chair features innovative shape and design. The base of the chair presents a symmetrical construction which provides strength in all directions. Both sides of the chair recall the international sign of “electron” from where and the name of the chair comes. The seat and the back of the chair are made from strong and durable coated textile which gives additional comfort.
The design of the chair is subject to pure geometry of the structure which should bare a certain weight and pressure on it, thus providing beauty and harmony and in the same time strength and comfort.
Joints: The joints of the chair are unique, developed by LOCK, provide strength and space reduction. They allow extremely user-friendly assembly and hold the elements of the chair strongly and in a natural way. Both sides of the chair are formed by four triangles and a square, thus supporting the efforts without the necessity of big weight.
Colors and finishing:
All the wooden elements of the chair are finished with Teak oil. The standard chair is offered with black textile, but also orange, green and dark blue colours are offered.
Assembling: The assembly is done fast and easy, by the use only of a wooden hammer or an ordinary (iron) hammer together with the included wooden mediator.
Zero waste flat pack solution:
We believe in zero waste technology! This one of the reason we developed a special set of accessories, which are cut together with the chair from the waste material, while forming the openings in the elements of the chair. Designed from the creator of the chair, the set of accessories is unique and allow you to possess every part of the chair.
Prototyping: The first prototype of the chair was designed several years ago and was very well accepted by the public after its publications in several design magazines, collecting enormous number of “likes”. This gave us the confidence to upgrade further the prototype. After creating four different prototypes we finally decided to introduce the last one to the audience through the platform of Kickstarter.
Designer: The designer of the chair - Konstantin Achkov is a sculptor who worked for many years with complex structures like “tensegrity”. This is the one of the reasons that Electron chair presents a mixture of art and engineering that will make your home a more artistic place.
