Chen Xie-Jin (Left) and Wen Wei (Right) from Construction Union gives us a short and sweet interview about how they got into Interior design and the future of their company.
Q: Why did you get into Interior Design?
A: It's my major in college, and I gradually started loving it.
Q: How did you start up your career?
A: After graduation.
Q: Where does your inspiration come from?
A: From life, reading, and travelling.
Q: Can you tell us about a significant accomplishment or project that you regard as notable?
A: Currently no, because many projects are ongoing at present, and each of them is a new start.
Q: Where would you like to see your company in 5 years from now?
A: Gradually form our own style, and do more valuable design for the society.
Q: What project(s) are you working on at the moment?
A: Some interesting projects, most of them are chain brands.
Q: How do you think an Interior Designer should dress?
A: Simple and comfortable, be able to reflect his/her own design style.
Q: If you could design anything, what would it be?
A: My home.
Q: What type of restaurant would you choose to go to for dinner?
A: I prefer restaurants of good design.
Q: Can you give us a statement about Design
A: Design is your understanding of life.
Q: If you could describe your designs related to food, what would it be and why?
A: Spicy, because each project is a new embodiment!
Q: What do you think of the design trends in the future?
A: The value of design will be more and more recognised by the society.
Q: Who is your favourite Designer and why?
A: Alvar Aalto. His design has the modern architectural thoughts of exploring nationalisation and humanity.
Q: In which country would you like to have your project in?
A: Japan
Q: What element of a design is the most important thing to you?
A: I think the primary consideration is the spatial scale.
Q: What is your favourite cocktail?
A: I seldom drink, generally I will choose cocktail with more fruit juice ingredients.
