Fang Xin-Yuan from Wei Yi International Design Associates has a mindset that each design should have precision, creation and individuality. With their business growing into Shanghai, they plan on expanding into Taiwan. The team of Wei-Yi Design devotes 100% of their heart to each of their projects.


Q: Why did you get into Interior Design?

A: The joy of stacked blocks and pure art.

Q: How did you start up your career?

A: After graduation.

Q: Where does your inspiration come from?

A: Travelling, reading, religions.

Q: Can you tell us about a significant accomplishment or project that you regard as notable?

A: At present, no. If I need to say something, then our notable accomplishment is our own feature being formed gradually.

Q: Where would you like to see your company in 5 years from now?

A: Diverse development of our company, real implementation of value that design brings to the society.

Q: What project(s) are you working on at the moment?

A: Some interesting projects, different from previous seaside villas and recycling plan for abandoned greenhouses.

Q: How do you think an Interior Designer should dress?

A: Casual, no need to be brand, just reflect oneself.

Q: If you could design anything, what would it be?

A: Planning of social issues.

Q: What type of restaurant would you choose to go to for dinner?

A: I like cooking by myself.

Q: Can you give us a statement about Design?

A: Beautiful things which can improve the social environment.

Q: If you could describe your designs related to food, what would it be and why?

A: Wine! It is similar as my work, needs time to taste and enjoy.

Q: What do you think of the design trends in the future?

A: More attention to regional concern, and association with environment.

Q: Who is your favourite Designer and why?

A: Tadao Ando. His work has a certain essence.

Q: In which country would you like to have your project in?

A: Ah, a lot! Japan, Burma, Netherlands...

Q: What element of a design is the most important thing to you?

A: Ray of light.

Q: What is your favourite cocktail?

A: I prefer wine to cocktail...
